Product packaging is one of the stages of supply chain that may significantly affect the safety and quality of food products. In order to draw proper attention to the processes connecting food production with trade, BRC/IoP Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials has been developed. This standard includes safety and quality requirements for packaging material manufacturers. Standard requirements are comprehensive and their implementation ensures fulfilment of hygiene and safety requirements in packaging manufacturing.

PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management. PEFC guarantees the customers buying timber or paper products promotion of sustainable forest management.

PEFC is the world’s largest forest certification organisation including national PEFC schemes, as well as other national schemes. More than 196 million hectares of forests in 29 countries to date have been certified in accordance with the national PEFC standards or in accordance with the national system endorsed by PEFC.

PEFC certification ensures that PEFC-certified timber products get into market. In order to sell and label products as PEFC-certified, a forest management certificate is required for forest working, while a supply chain certification is necessary for operation of all other companies in treatment and trade chain.
